It has been a long time since the home team of the Oldie Masters tournament celebrated victory. But this time, Chemnitz did it. Chemnitz beat the last year’s defending winner Ex-Profis with names like Silvio Meißner, Ulf Mehlhorn and Ingo Hertzsch from FC Erzgebirge Aue.

Third place went to team EUROstars, possesing players like Jan Koller, Fredi Bobic, Ballakov, Rehmer, Pavel Kuka or Karel Poborský.Bayer 04 Leverkusen with the help of Bernd Schneider and Erik Meijer got the fourth place, while Nürnberg and Union Berlin were the last-place teams.

Atmosphere in the sold-out Chemnitz Arena (4 500 spectators) reached its peak by the announcement of the tournament’s best player. The award went to Honza Koller. Ingo Hertsch was declared the best defender and Alex Keller the best goalkeeper.
